Lots of great news this month. For starters Poison Pixie have finally released a provisional publishing date for DANNY Volume 2. If everything goes according to plan the next exciting chapter in the DANNY saga will be in your bookshops for February 13th 2007 (to coincide with Ian's birthday!). The publishers will be accepting pre-orders nearer the time and I'll email you to let you know when you can join the queue for the next instalment. (I hoped they might let me see a sneak preview of Volume 2 but the book is being kept under wraps until the last minute so no point in asking me for hints – I'm as in the dark as you are. Damn!)

And there's even more news! Poison Pixie have also launched a non fiction list and opened it with Max Scratchmann's best-selling marketing guide for illustrators, ILLUSTRATION 101.

Although this fact-filled, fun-to-read book is aimed at illustrators it's also equally relevant for writers, journalists, designers, film-makers and animators.

Originally published in 1999 as an e-book, this resourceful volume has already sold over a thousand copies and has now been completely revised and up-dated for its ink-and-paper debut. Artists' & Graphic Designers' Market described the original version as "great" and the Association of Illustrators have already said of the revised edition that "with its rough and ready no holds barred style, it could have come off the pen of Sir Alan Sugar"

GREAT NEWS for DANNY fans this month!

Volume Two of DANNY has gone into production and will be in your bookshop within three to six months - and that's not all - volumes Three and Four are set to follow at six-month intervals.

However, we desperately need your feedback in order to be sure we are giving you the books you want to read.

Firstly, in order to make the books more user-friendly, Poison Pixie is considering splitting each volume into two parts. These would, of course, be published simultaneously and could be bought as a pair if so desired.

Secondly, the art director wants more controversial and arresting design on future volumes. As Chancery says on her blog:-

"How do you feel about having more explicit and/or sadistic images on the cover? Did you take the "sexually explicit" sticker off Volume One so you could read it in public? Do you care what's on the cover? Or do you actively like the idea of a controversial 'purple cow' cover? (Marketing term for something that stands out because it is unique/unconventional.)"

Thirdly, DANNY über-fans, Jill & Jodie, have started a new discussion board on Live Journal at http://community.livejournal.com/cstonesdanny/ . If you'd like to discuss anything from your fantasy 'DANNY the movie' cast to the metaphorical significance of locked doors in Volume One I'm sure they'd be delighted to hear from you. It's a friendly, intelligent site where all shades of reader from "I've never heard of it" to "I've read it four times" are welcome.
